How Do I Adopt a Greyhound?
First, read all of the information we have provided for you to make sure that a greyhound is the right breed of dog for you. Remember that adoption is a commitment for the life of the dog, you should never adopt thinking that you will return the dog when it becomes inconvenient to take care of him.
If you are ready to make the commitment, fill out the application and mail it to:
PO Box 1495
Middleboro, MA 02346
You can also email us a copy of the application once it is filled out to:
Be honest about your living situation including the number of children and their ages, other pets you may have and how many hours you are away at work every day. If you are not honest with us, we cannot help find the greyhound that is right for you and your family.
After the application has been reviewed, a volunteer will call you to schedule a visit to your home. This visit is to talk to you about the responsibilities of greyhound ownership. We want to make sure that you are willing to make the commitment that is required.
After the home visit, a volunteer will call you to schedule a visit to the kennel to pick out your new greyhound. Once you have chosen your greyhound (or your greyhound has chosen you), we will put the greyhound on hold for you with a $50.00 nonrefundable deposit (the $50.00 will be applied to your adoption fee) for up to two weeks. Our adoption fee is $300 cash or check to be paid at the time you adopt your greyhound.
If for any reason you cannot keep your greyhound, you MUST return it to GPA, Mass. Do not give it to a friend or turn it into a shelter. The adoption fee is refundable up to 14 days from transfer date, thereafter it is NON-refundable.
Remember, after you have adopted your greyhound, if you have any questions, you can always call or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
